Clarifications requested by the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency

The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency TUKES has requested Talvivaara Mining
Company Plc ("Talvivaara" or the "Company") to provide a clarification on
occupational safety procedures at the Talvivaara mine. Talvivaara is currently
carrying out a normal maintenance stoppage at the mine, and the Company expects
to be in a position to deliver the requested clarifications during the early
part of the current week. Therefore the Company does not expect the maintenance
stoppage to be extended due to the request from TUKES.

During the maintenance stoppage, which was started prior to request by TUKES,
Talvivaara has paid special attention on the areas mentioned in the request by
TUKES. A safe working environment is a key focus area for Talvivaara.
