B&W COO Joins USEC Board of Directors
USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) announced today that Mary Pat Salomone has been
elected to the Company′s board of directors. Salomone is senior vice
president and chief operating officer at The Babcock & Wilcox Company
(B&W). She will serve on the board′s technology and competition
committee.
Salomone replaces Michael S. Taff, who recently resigned from his
position as chief financial officer of B&W. Under a securities purchase
agreement between Toshiba Corporation, B&W and USEC, B&W and Toshiba
have the right to elect a total of two members to USEC′s board of
directors. Taff has served on USEC′s Board since the completion of the
first phase of B&W and Toshiba′s investment in September 2010. Toshiba′s
designee on the board is Hiroshi Sakamoto, senior vice president and
board director, Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corporation, a subsidiary
of Toshiba.
'Mary Pat′s experience in the nuclear power industry and strategic
business development will be a real asset to the board,? said James
Mellor, USEC chairman. 'In addition, her integration with the board will
continue to foster the companies′ close working relationship.?
Salomone has served as senior vice president and chief operating officer
of B&W since January 2010. Prior to that, she had served as manager of
business development and manager of strategic acquisitions for Babcock &
Wilcox Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. From 1998 through December 2007,
Salomone served as an officer of Marine Mechanical Corporation, which
B&W acquired in 2007, including her term as president and chief
executive officer from 2001 through 2007.
