Andover Adds 9,120 Acres to Land Position in the Ambler Mining District, Alaska
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/05/11 -- Andover Ventures Inc. ('Andover' or the 'Company') (TSX VENTURE: AOX)(OTCBB: AOVTF)(FRANKFURT: R2X) is pleased to announce that the Company has added an additional 9,120 acres to its land position in the Ambler Mining District, Northwest Alaska.
Andover previously announced (November 17th 2011) that the Company had more than doubled its land position at the SUN Property in the Ambler Mining District by staking an additional 18,880 acres at the east end of the District. The SUN property, which hosts the SUN Deposit, Southwest SUN Deposit and Picnic Creek Deposits, now has a total land position of 36,800 acres.
The newly added 9,120 acres are located at the West End of the Ambler Mining District adjacent to Teck Resources Limited's Smucker Deposit. Nova Gold Resources subsidiary 'Nova Copper Inc' holds the Arctic Deposit in the central part of the Ambler Mining District.
With the addition of the 9,120 acres, Andover now has an aggregate land position of 45,920 acres in the Ambler Mining District. The Ambler District is one of the richest undeveloped volcanogenic-massive-sulphide (VMS) copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver districts in the world.
Larry Segerstrom, Andovers COO comments, 'The acquisition of the large claim block adjacent to the silver-rich polymetallic Smucker deposit provides Andover with an excellent opportunity to find additional mineral deposits in this under-explored district.'
Brad Peek, Andovers General Manager for the SUN Project states, 'Andover saw this land acquisition as an excellent opportunity to acquire some highly prospective ground in a district that holds outstanding potential for development. As the State of Alaska moves forward with its 'Road to Resources' program, this acreage will only become more valuable to our Ambler project area.'
