Dia Bras Identifies Gold-Anomalous Ridges at the La Verde Gold Prospect at Its Batopilas Property

21.10.2011  |  Marketwire

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/21/11 -- Dia Bras Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE: DIB) is pleased to report additional assay results from the stream sediment sampling program conducted at the La Verde high-sulfidation gold prospect of its Batopilas property in Chihuahua State, Mexico. These results have focused the Company's attention on certain gold-anomalous ridges that will be explored after the rainy season in the fourth quarter of 2011. The Batopilas property lies within the prolific Sierra Madre gold belt.

The La Verde area of the Batopilas property is located 35 km southeast of the Company's Bolivar property and 23 km to the east of Goldcorp's El Sauzal gold mine and within one of the most important gold mining belts in the Sierra Madre in Northern Mexico. Within the La Verde area, alteration related to a high-sulfidation gold system occurs over an area of more than 25 km2 and it is within this wide area of alteration that the Company is focusing its gold exploration efforts. There is also a northwest trend to quartz veins, veinlets and stockworks, which hosts the historical Tres Hermanos mine. This mine is not on Dia Bras property but the extension of the trend is. According to the Mexican Geological Service, Tres Hermanos produced ore at an average grade of 16.35 g/t gold from 1916-1936, with an estimated production of about 200,000 ounces.

Dia Bras is exploring its 100%-owned Batopilas property that covers 45,319 and also includes the Corralitos intrusion-hosted Mo-Cu deposit and the Satevo epithermal gold mineralization.

New results from stream sediment samples show gold-in-stream sediments up to 660 ppb, a very anomalous amount. Other anomalous metals include copper (969 ppm), lead (207 ppm) and zinc (346 ppm).

Complete results are given in the accompanying maps (http://www.diabras.com/files/media/LA%20VERDE_201108.pdf)that show sample locations and alteration patterns and in the accompanying EXCEL spreadsheet (http://www.diabras.com/files/media/La%20Verde%20Base%20datos.xlsx). Figure 1 is a regional map showing La Verde's location relative to other mineral deposits. Figure 2 shows the overall La Verde area and the area of gold-anomalous ridges defined to date as well as the location of the Tres Hermanos mine, a historic gold producer at a grade of 16.35 g/t gold from 1916-1936 (Servicio Geologico Mexicano - SGM).

Dia Bras has conducted two stream-sediment sampling programs in order to define major gold anomalies in La Verde. The latest program included collection of an additional 88 sediment samples in the La Verde area, bringing the total to date to 135 samples. During late 2011, Dia Bras will continue sampling of streams in the La Verde area and will initiate detailed geologic mapping and rock chip sampling of the gold anomalous ridges with the intent that initial drilling of the area can be done during 2012.

Daniel Tellechea, President and CEO of Dia Bras Exploration, Inc. stated 'The La Verde area has the potential to host a significant gold deposit and given the size of the altered area we do not intend to rush into a drilling program. When our geologists are convinced we have identified the highest priority areas, then we will commence drilling. This very attractive area warrants a serious and in-depth exploration effort.'

Method of analysis

Samples were prepared at the ALS Chemex lab facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, and analyzed by ICP and AA methods at their facilities in Vancouver, Canada. Samples sent for analysis were prepared by the ALS Chemex sample preparation laboratory in Chihuahua, Mexico, and assayed for Au by 50 g fire assay with AA finish, and for Ag by AA on 50 g split sample at the ALS Chemex North Vancouver Laboratory. Assays for Pb, Zn and Cu are done by Induction Coupled Plasma (ICP) at ALS Chemex.

Quality control

The quality assurance-quality control (QA-QC) program employed by Dia Bras has been described in detail in both RPA's NI 43-101 reports of December, 2006, at Cusi and October, 2005, for Bolivar.

The technical content of this news release has been approved by Thomas L. Robyn, Ph.D., CPG, RPG, a Director of Dia Bras and a Qualified Person as defined in NI 43-101.
