Northern Star Mining Corp. Announces New Gold Discovery

VAL D'OR, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire - Feb. 11, 2010) - Northern Star Mining Corp. (TSX VENTURE:NSM) (OTCQX:NSMSF) (Northern Star Mining or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has made a new gold discovery from underground drilling at its wholly owned Malartic-Midway gold project, located 16km from Val-d'Or, Quebec, next to the Canadian Malartic gold discovery of Osisko Mining Corporation.Drilling from the end of the 225W drift, which is an exploration drift into the Briar porphyry, discovered a new gold gabbro zone with significant gold mineralization. The drill hole returned 11.34g/t AU over 9.23m.
A drill hole from the 15W drift designed to explore targets some 150 meters below the first level underground also discovered gold mineralization of 18.21g/t over 2.6 meters.

Eugene Gauthier, Ing (OIQ), acts as the qualified person of the Company and has reviewed the contents of the news release. The diamond drilling and exploration programs are being carried out under the direct supervision of Eugene Gauthier, Ing (OIQ). The Company is maintaining strict standards for QA (quality assurance) and QC (quality control); by keeping under lock all drill cores, rejects and pulps for further testing. Samples were sent to ALS Chemex and Techni-Lab labs in Val d'Or, Quebec. High grade assays intersections were subject to total gold metallic sieve method in addition to the standard fire assay and AA finish.
