Vancouver, B.C. - Upper Canyon Minerals Corp. ("UCM" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: UCM) is pleased to report on advancement of the drill program since the last News Release of March 22, 2001.

Two additional holes #11-28 and #11-24 were completed. #11-28 traced the 3 previous mineralized sections of #11-27, 15 meters to the west at following depths:

166 to 166.8m, in volcanics - bearing 2% coarse Py

177 to 180m . in sheared diorite bearing 1% Py and

16.3m of Quartz Feldspar Porphyry (QFP) between 180 to 196.3m, highly altered throughout, bearing 2% coarse euhedral Py and tourmaline. The lower contact is sharp with the ultramafic.

#11-24, drilled on section 321225, did intersect both mineralized upper sections of #11-23, located 55m North at 100m vertical below:

First- 205 to 211.5m in volcanic-diorite contact bearing 2% Py

Second: split into 2 sections: 275 to 277.1m and

286.7 to 289.5m in highly altered diorite with 1% Py

The QFP was not encountered at the volcanic-ultramafic contact at 352.8m. Either the QFP was off-set by cross faulting, or it pinches at that level. In previous holes, the variable width and the sharp lower contact with the ultramafic suggests that the QFP pinches and swells and preceeds the ultramafic. Also that the hydrothermal mineralized solutions is post the QFP and followed shattering in the QFP and alongside it's upper contact with the volcanics.

All drill holes to date, have confirmed previous Noranda mineralized intersections, enclosed in volcanics/diorite at the 125-150 m vertical depth, traced in this year drilling, to the 200-225m vertical depth.

Current drilling is proceeding well on #11-21 on Section 321285, 50 meters South of #11-27, to investigate the down extension of the QFP, some 150 vertical meter below it's intersection with #11-27 at 210m level.

There are 3 additional holes remaining on the Norcourt to test the easterly extension of the mineralized structures, to explore the continuity of the QFP marker zone before the drill moves to the Bermont, where 3 strategic holes are spotted to trace the westerly extension of the high grade gold intersection in previous #08-16 (30.93 gAu/1.63m at 25.7m, 3.66 g/2.45m and 2.69 g/0.5m at 66.5m).

UCM has contracted to Geotic of Val D'Or, to build a 3-D model on the Adelemont zone located some 300 meters to the northwest of the Norcourt zone. Modelization of the Norcourt will follow after results of current drilling program are available. Those models will be of outmost importance to guide the company's plan to follow up to an underground development program.

Tom Thomsen, President and CEO of Upper Canyon Minerals notes that: "I am pleased with the continued progress of our drilling, intersecting our geological target. We await compilation of the drill results in a future news release".
