Dia Bras Samples High Grades of Silver and Gold on Its Bacerac Property, Sonora State, Mexico

21.01.2011  |  Marketwire

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/21/11 -- Dia Bras Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE: DIB) is pleased to report that surface sampling of the San Patricio prospect on its wholly owned Bacerac Property has identified high grades of silver and gold. The sampling program underway resulted from Management's decision late in 2010 to accelerate exploration work on this broad, altered area.

'These are exciting results,' stated Daniel Tellechea, President & CEO. 'The potential for an open-pitable silver-gold-lead mine at San Patricio has increased significantly. We are advancing the project by trenching with an excavator in order to evaluate the zone further. Bacerac is one of the four greenfield precious metal projects that Dia Bras is planning to drill in 2011. These four projects add exploration upside to our more advanced development work on Bolivar and Cusi properties.'

The project area contains Tertiary volcanic rocks consisting of rhyolitic and andesitic flows and breccias that overlie probable Cretaceous sedimentary rocks; both units locally exhibit strong alteration. A large area of alteration and mineralization surrounds the historic San Patricio mine and provides a large exploration target. Mineralization is commonly associated with strongly silicified rhyolitic rocks near the base of the unit at or near the contact with underlying sedimentary rocks. Veins are locally important. There are multiple small mines and prospects in the region.

Infrastructure, only five kilometres from the http://www.diabras.com/files/media/49211_Bacerac%20Regional%20Infrastructure.pdf San Patricio prospect area, includes a major regional highway, towns, a power grid, etc. These factors will have a significant positive effect on future operation costs.

The http://www.diabras.com/files/media/2e71c_San%20Patricio.pdf map of the San Patricio prospect area shows that the mineralized quartz breccia covers an area of approximately 600 x 400 m, within which the recent sampling shows a silver-gold-lead mineralized zone of about 300 x 200 m. The mineralized zone has not been completely closed off and remains open to the northeast.

Sampling crews have collected rock-chip channel samples in a grid pattern around the old San Patricio mine, and a senior geologist has been conducting regional and detailed mapping. Selected results are shown in Table 1 and http://www.diabras.com/files/media/8c86a_NR%20No%202%20Bacerac%20-%20San%20Patricio%20Sample%20Spreadsheet.pdf results for all samples are available on the Company's web page.

Trenching is in progress with an excavator cutting trenches 400 m long, at a spacing of 100 m, oriented in a NE-SW direction.

The results from surface sampling, trenching and mapping are expected to identify several, high priority drill targets that will be drilled during the second quarter of this year.

Method of Analysis

Samples were prepared at the ALS Chemex lab facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, and analyzed by ICP and AA methods at their facilities in Vancouver, Canada. Diamond drill samples sent for analysis consisted of half NQ-size and BQ-size diamond core split on site, prepared by the ALS Chemex sample preparation laboratory in Chihuahua, Mexico, and assayed for Au by 50 g fire assay with AA finish, and for Ag by AA on 50 g split sample at the ALS Chemex North Vancouver Laboratory. Assays for Pb, Zn and Cu are processed by Induction Coupled Plasma (ICP) at ALS Chemex.

Quality Control

The quality assurance-quality control (QA-QC) of Dia Bras has been described in detail in both RPA's NI 43-101 reports of December, 2006, at Cusi and October, 2005, for Bolivar.

The technical content of this news release has been approved by Thomas L. Robyn, Ph.D., CPG, RPG, a Director of Dia Bras, a Qualified Person as defined in NI 43-101.
