Detour Gold Reports More Results From Its 2010 Drilling Program at Detour Lake Project in Ontario Gold Mineralization Extending West of Current Pit (2.54 g/t / 48 m & 2.80 g/t / 41.5 m west of Calcite Zone)

Gold Mineralization Extending West of Current Pit (2.54 g/t / 48 m & 2.80 g/t / 41.5 m west of Calcite Zone)

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/20/10 -- Detour Gold Corporation (TSX: DGC) ('Detour Gold' or the 'Company') reports assay results for its 2010 drilling campaign at the Detour Lake gold project in northern Ontario. A total of 90,864 metres has now been completed. The 2010 program covered the western extension of the Detour Lake open pit deposit between section 17,540E and 18,000E on a 40X40 metre drill spacing. Today's results include an additional 25 holes totaling 12,491 metres (including four holes abandoned for 788 metres). To date, the Company has released assay results of 104 holes totaling 50,049 metres (approximately 55% of the program).

Following up on the successful 2010 drilling campaign, the Company has added an additional 15,000 metres of drilling, which will extend to section 17,460E on a 40X40 metre spacing. This additional drilling is to be completed by year-end. Drill results to date indicate that the gold mineralization continues west of the current US$850/oz pit shell. An updated mineral resources and reserves statement is expected in early 2011.

All drill holes were completed from sections 17,700E to 17,900E, west of the Calcite Zone. Gold mineralization was intersected outside of the feasibility study open pit, along the same mineralized corridor. On all sections, significant gold mineralization was encountered at the contact between the massive flow and the Sunday Lake Deformation Zone: 2.80 g/t (uncut) or 2.49 g/t (cut) over 41.5 metres in hole DG-10-907A, 4.18 g/t (uncut) or 2.50 g/t (cut) over 16.0 metres in hole DG-10-926, and 1.15 g/t over 37.0 metres in hole DG-10-923.

Significant gold mineralization was also present in the pillow flows (representing the extension of Domain 2, which contains 38% of the measured and indicated resources). Of significance, hole DG-10-900 intersected 0.99 g/t over 59.0 metres, hole DG-10-910 intersected 3.03 g/t (uncut) or 2.93 (cut) over 32.9 metres, and hole DG-10-925 intersected 2.54 g/t (uncut) or 2.06 g/t (cut) over 48.0 metres.

Significant gold mineralized (uncut) intervals encountered are shown below.

Complete tables of results, surface and longitudinal plans and cross-sections for the Detour Lake deposit are posted on the Company's website at www.detourgold.com /Projects/Detour Lake or http://www.detourgold.com/PROJECTS/Detour-Lake/Explore-Detour-Lake/default.aspx or on the home page 'Explore Detour Lake'.

Detour Gold's delineation program is being managed by its Exploration Manager, Mr. Roger Aubertin, Eng., a Qualified Person within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Aubertin has verified and approved the data disclosed in this release, including the sampling, analytical and test data underlying the information. Samples are now prepared at both SGS Minerals Services in Sudbury and Don Mills, Ontario, Canada and assayed at the Don Mills location. Analysis for gold is done on sawn half core samples using fire assay (AA finish). Samples with higher grade gold (greater than 5 g/t) are re-assayed using the pulp and metallics procedures. Standard reference materials, blank and field duplicate samples are inserted prior to shipment from site to monitor the quality control of the assay data. For additional information on Quality Assurance and Quality Control ('QA/QC'), refer to the news release dated April 11, 2007.
