North Atlantic Confirms 400 Metres of Southeast and Northwest Strike Extension at Its 100% Owned FT Gold Project - With Intersections of 14 Metres at 1.11 gpt Au in Hole 10FLRC-21 Including 4 Metres at 2.08 gpt Au

- With Intersections of 14 Metres at 1.11 gpt Au in Hole 10FLRC-21 Including 4 Metres at 2.08 gpt Au

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/29/10 -- North Atlantic Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE: NAC) ('North Atlantic' or 'the Company') is pleased to report complete drill results from a program of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its 100% owned FT Gold Project ('FT') in Western Mali. These holes extend the total gold mineralization at FT from 2.1 kilometres in length to over 2.5 kms of gold mineralization. The drilling represents near surface mineralization to a maximum vertical depth of approximately 75 metres. These results include oxide material from up to 15 to 40 metres vertical depth, and transition zone and sulphide material below approximately 15 to 40 metres. All drill hole inclinations are between -55 and -70 degrees, and true width of the mineralization is 50% to 75% of the reported drill intercept depending on the drill angle. All assays results are reported as uncut values.

This program targeted two significant areas where gaps existed in both the drilling and resource models. This release incorporates results announced in North Atlantic's press release dated June 30, 2010 and includes the completion of RC drill results for hole 10FLRC-7A. This release also reports on widely spaced drill results targeting the Foulalaba Southeast Extension and the Tiekoumala Northwest Extension Corridors.

Recent drilling at FT has been designed to infill portions of the resource that had not been drilled prior to the completion of the NI 43-101 compliant technical report in 2007. Recent RC drilling was targeted to upgrade tonnage and improve grade continuity as the first stage of a process that will improve the project economics before preparing a new technical report. The FT project is the Company's most advanced gold discovery with an initial NI 43-101 compliant resource calculation (2007) of 7,880,000 tonnes at a grade of 0.95 grams per tonne for 241,000 ounces of gold in the indicated mineral resource category and 10,550,000 tonnes at a grade of 1.05 grams gold per tonne for 353,000 ounces of gold in the inferred mineral resource category.

Recent in-fill drilling (see news release dated June 30, 2010) targeted two gaps at FT called the Village and Plantation Gaps. The results have confirmed the high grade nature of the FT resource in these areas and included:

-- 44 metres at 1.95 gpt Au in hole 10FLRC-06 that also included 12 metres
at 2.13 gpt Au, 6 metres at 7.48 gpt Au and 4 metres at 1.74 gpt Au,
-- 72 metres at 1.38 gpt Au in hole 10FLRC-07 that also included 32 metres
at 2.65 gpt Au,
-- 50 metres at 1.43 gpt Au in hole 10FLRC-08 that also included 8 metres
at 7.10 gpt Au, and
-- 26 metres at 4.35 gpt Au in hole 10FLRC-12A that also included 12 metres
at 8.99 gpt Au

Reported for the first time in this news release is RC hole 10FLRC-7A with assays of 48 metres at 0.74 gpt Au, including 2 metres at 1.49 gpt Au, and including 4 metres at 1.65 gpt Au in the Village Gap. RC hole 10FLRC-7A completes a section from 72 metres below hole 10FLRC-7 (72 metres at 1.38 gpt Au) which had been abandoned due to poor ground conditions.

Results from our widely spaced Extension Drilling Program confirm the presence of a broad zone of gold mineralization Southeast and Northwest of FT. Drill intersections at the Tiekoumala Northwest Extension extends mineralization 200 metres north of any previous drilling with hole 10TKRC-25 which assayed 68 metres at 0.20 gpt Au, including 2 metres at 1.58 gpt Au. RC drilling at the Foulalaba Southeast Extension of 14 metres grading 1.11 gpt Au in hole 10FLRC-21 confirm the existence of significant mineralization at least 200 metres south of the Village Gap drilling.

The fieldwork for this program of property-wide exploration consisting of 6,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling, auger drilling, and termite mound geochemical sampling is now complete. Results reporting on additional RC drilling which targets a new gold anomaly discovered by recent auger drilling are pending. The results of a recently completed detailed termite mound survey covering the immediate vicinity of the FT Gold Project are also pending this quarter.

Scott, Waldie, North Atlantic's CEO, said, 'We are very encouraged by the positive results from FT. Our work continues to reveal impressive results at every turn. These results indicate the potential for further expansion of the FT Resource. This is a very large property with numerous untested zones for satellite or stand-alone deposit potential. We look forward with high expectations for our future exploration plans.'

In the tables below intersections are calculated down the drill holes using both a 0.1 gram per tonne (gpt) assay cut-off and a 0.4 gpt assay cut-off. The differing cut-off grades were selected to demonstrate the wide continuity of the mineralization and to reflect the potential bulk mining of the entire zone at a 0.1 gpt cut-off. The 0.40 gpt cut-off table intersections demonstrate the higher grade continuity of the mineralization and reflect the potential for higher grade bulk mining potential of selected zones.

Note 1: Intersections are calculated down the drill holes using
a 0.1 gram per tonne (gpt) or 100 part per billion (ppb) assay
cut-off and allowing a maximum of 4 metres of internal waste.
Assays immediately following the internal waste must carry the
waste interval to be included in a particular intersection.
'Includes' is calculated using a 1.0 gpt or 1000 ppb assay cut-
off with the same internal waste criteria. 0.1 gpt or 100 ppb
was chosen as a cut-off to show the wide continuity of the
mineralization and to reflect the potential bulk mining of the
entire zone. All drill hole inclinations are between -55 and -70
degrees and true width of the mineralization is 50%-75% of the
reported drill intercept depending on the drill angle.

a 0.4 gram per tonne (gpt) or 400 part per billion (ppb) assay
cut-off and allowing a maximum of 4 metres of internal waste.
Assays immediate following the internal waste must carry the
waste interval to be included in a particular intersection.
'Includes' is calculated using a 1.0 gpt or 1000 ppb assay cut-
off with the same internal waste criteria. 0.4 gpt or 400 ppb
was chosen as a second cut-off to show the higher grade
continuity of the mineralization and to reflect the potential
higher grade bulk mining of selected zones. All drill hole
inclinations are between -55 and -70 degrees and true width of
the mineralization is 50%-75% of the reported drill intercept
depending on the drill angle.

Qualified Person

The results of North Atlantic's drilling program have been reviewed, verified and compiled by H. Andrew Daniels, P. Geo, a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Daniels has over 25 years of mineral exploration and mining experience, is a Licensed Professional Geologist in the Province of Ontario and a member in good standing.

To ensure reliable sample results North Atlantic has a rigorous QA/QC program in place that monitors the chain-of-custody of samples and includes the insertion of blanks, duplicates, and certified reference standards in each batch of samples. RC chips are logged and a representative sample is retained in a secured facility for verification purposes. Sample preparation (crushing and pulverizing) is performed at an independent local laboratory. Prepared samples are direct-shipped to a local independent laboratory for analysis using a FA50-AAS (Fire Assay on 50 gram sample with an Atomic Absorption finish).
