Orvana Minerals Reports Contractor Fatality
TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/05/10 -- Orvana Minerals Corp. ('Orvana') (TSX: ORV) is sad to report that a contractor to Kinbauri Espana, S.L.U. ('Kinbauri'), Orvana's subsidiary in Spain, was fatally injured when his excavator overturned in an unfortunate accident on July 1,2010. Ceferino Gracia Sanchez was employed with Sanchez y Lago, one of Spain's largest construction companies. Immediately following the accident, Kinbauri implemented its emergency response plan. Accordingly, all activities were voluntarily suspended until July 5, 2010, and the company is cooperating fully with the authorities in their investigation of the accident.
Orvana and Kinbauri would like to convey their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ceferino Garcia Sanchez, and Orvana's CEO, VP Mining, and Kinbauri staff attended his funeral. Kinbauri would also like to thank not only all the emergency response agencies who arrived at the scene after the accident occurred, but also the Kinbauri staff who reacted quickly and competently in responding to this emergency.
