Midland Begins Major VTEM Survey on Mistaouac and Turgeon in the Casa Berardi Area and Resumes Drilling on Vortex
MONTREAL, April 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Midland Exploration Inc. (“Midland”) (TSX-V:MD) is pleased to report the commencement of a major helicopter-borne electromagnetic (“VTEM”) survey on its Turgeon and Mistaouac projects, wholly owned by Midland and acquired in the summer of 2016. The Turgeon property comprises 246 claims covering a surface area of approximately 138 square kilometres, whereas the Mistaouac property totals 404 claims in two claim blocks covering a surface area of approximately 208 square kilometres. The two properties are respectively located about 25 kilometres to the southwest and 30 kilometres east of the Casa Berardi mine.

Given its significant depth penetration in terrains characterized by the presence of conductive clay-rich overburden, this VTEM survey, conducted along flight lines at a 100-metre spacing and totalling approximately 2,830 line kilometres, is designed to detect new conductors that remained undetected in previous airborne electromagnetic surveys.
In 2017, a compilation of historical work carried out on the Mistaouac and Turgeon properties revealed the presence of several historical drill holes with gold values, as well as base metal occurrences favourably located in prospective geological settings for gold and base metal deposits. The Mistaouac and Turgeon properties host extensive east-west-trending structures similar to the major gold-bearing fault zones in the Abitibi. In addition, compilation work has also identified several reverse circulation (RC) drill holes with anomalous gold values in tills.
Following the VTEM survey, Midland will perform follow-up work next summer in an effort to validate in the field the best VTEM anomalies located in favourable geological settings.
Drilling program begins on Casault – Vortex zone
The helicopter-supported drilling program started this week with two rigs on the Vortex zone, on the Casault project. This important program, consisting of nine (9) drill holes and totalling more than 3,500 metres, will test the extensions of the new Vortex discovery. This drilling program is expected to be completed near the end of April.
