CONSOL Energy Inc. Releases Annual Corporate Responsibility Report
PITTSBURGH, May 23, 2017 - Consol Energy Inc. (NYSE: CNX) today announced the release of its annual Corporate Responsibility Report, which details execution against Key Performance Indicators and outlines activities and new initiatives undertaken during the past year toward the Company's comprehensive corporate responsibility goals. CONSOL Energy President and Chief Executive Officer Nicholas J. DeIuliis commented, "Managing our risk profile and creating value are benefits of our commitment to corporate responsibility, but that obligation also breathes life into our core values of safety, compliance and continuous improvement." Health, Safety and Environment (HSE): All CONSOL Energy employees were safety trained in 2016, while 100 percent of the Company's employees worked at zero for the entire year. CONSOL Energy employs 23 HSE professionals in support of its safety and environmental compliance core values. This commitment to the core values improves the reliability and deliverability of products to customers, lowers costs, mitigates the potential for fines and penalties and reduces the Company's discount rate, ultimately increasing the value of the enterprise.
Corporate Governance: CONSOL Energy's Board of Directors and management team firmly believe that sound principles of corporate governance are essential in making good decisions on behalf of its shareholders, employees and other stakeholders. The Company's best-in-class corporate governance practices earned it the highest possible ISS Governance Quality Score for 2016.
Commitment to the Region: Over 87 percent of service providers' employees live and work in the CONSOL Energy operational areas of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, extending the Company's deep local roots throughout the region.
