Orvana Announces Appointments to the Board of Directors

TORONTO, May 20, 2016 /CNW/ - Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX:ORV) (the "Company" or "Orvana") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. James Gilbert as Chairman of the board of the directors (the "Board") and Mr. Gordon Pridham, who has served as a director since November 2014, as Lead Independent Director.
Mr. Gilbert is an accomplished senior mining executive with extensive leadership and governance experience, along with international investment, financing and corporate transaction expertise. Mr. Gilbert previously served as a director of the Company from August 2009 through February 2012.
Mr. Gilbert succeeds Mr. Jacques McMullen as Chairman. Mr. McMullen and Ms. Audra Walsh have stepped down from the Board to focus on other career opportunities.

Mr. Gilbert is currently an executive officer of Minera S.A. ("Minera"), an affiliate of Orvana's majority shareholder Fabulosa Mines Limited, and previously served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of First Point Minerals Corp. and Minera. He has also held senior positions with Gerald Metals Inc., Rothschilds Inc. and Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Gilbert has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BA from Bucknell University.
