Government Grants Extension to Taseko's Prosperity Project
VANCOUVER, Jan. 15, 2015 /CNW/ - Taseko Mines Ltd. (TSX: TKO; NYSE MKT: TGB) ("Taseko" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that The British Columbia Minister of Environment has granted Taseko Mines a five-year extension to the Environmental Assessment Certificate for development of the Prosperity gold-copper project near Williams Lake, BC.
Russell Hallbauer, President & CEO of Taseko Mines Ltd., stated, "In arriving at their decision it is clear that significant work was undertaken by the provincial government to meet their obligations and to properly consider the full range of relevant factors, and we appreciate that effort."
The Prosperity deposit represents a rare opportunity for British Columbia, most especially the people of the Cariboo-Chilcotin region for whom the benefits would be most directly felt.
"This is truly a world-class deposit capable of making a lasting contribution to BC and Canada. It deserves special effort now to make it a reality," added Mr. Hallbauer. "We will continue to work with governments at all levels and with our First Nations neighbours to find ways to shape the project and move it forward in a manner that delivers the greatest possible value to the broadest number of people."
