Triton Minerals Limited Nicanda Hill Mineralised Footprint Defined Over 6.2kms
Triton Minerals Managing Director Brad Boyle said "These observations continue to reaffirm Triton's belief in the Nicanda Hill prospect becoming a world class graphite and vanadium project. The fundamentals of this quality project continue to improve with the completion of each and every drill hole. "
Introduction
Triton has completed approximately 60% of the current drilling program on the Nicanda Hill prospect, with forty three (43) RC drill holes and eighteen (18) diamond drill holes finished. The drilling program has been designed to test the full width and potential continuity of the interpreted graphitic zone as suggested by the conductive zones identified in VTEM data.
Within the Nicanda Hill footprint, continuous graphite and vanadium mineralisation has been demonstrated, both by assay and logging of drilling samples, over a 4.8kms strike-length, between drill sections N14 and S10 (Figure 1 in link below). This mineralised strikelength is expected to increase with further drilling to the north.
Significantly, drilling results to date, combined with geological mapping and geophysical interpretation, has expanded the Nicanda Hill mineralised target area to an impressive 6.2kms long and 1.1kms wide and expanding to a width of up to 1.5kms in the northern section, forming a 5.2km2 footprint (Figure 1 in link below). This footprint does not yet include the substantial VTEM anomalies that define Charmers, Nacugi, Black Hills and the western prospects - all of which are yet to be fully explored.
Exploration Target Model Validated by VTEM Data
Data obtained from the initial drilling phase has confirmed the close correlation between the zones of high electrical conductivity identified in the VTEM survey data and the zones of graphite mineralisation (Figure 2 in link below).
The larger potential of the project is now being realised by the strong validation/correlation of the VTEM data and the mineralisation zones identified in the northern region of the Nicanda Hill prospect, together with the Charmers, Nacuji, Black Hills and western prospects.
- The current target footprint substantially exceeds Triton's original exploration target expectations as originally defined in March 2014.
- The close correlation between the geophysics and drilling results to date, suggest significant additional potential to the north and satellite prospects.
Strike Continuity of Graphite Mineralisation
The Company confirms that substantial visible flake graphite and vanadium-hosting roscoellite has been identified on all drill sections completed to date over a strikelength of 4.8kms. The drilling verifies that graphite and vanadium mineralisation is continuous from surface to depths of over 400 vertical metres with multiple high grade graphite and vanadium zones extending along the entire strike length (Figure 3 in link below).
Nicanda Hill Project Advancement
In less than four months, from commencement of the 2014 exploration program in April 2014, the Company has progressed the Nicanda Hill prospect from a conceptual target to establishing one of the largest graphite-vanadium mineralisated footprints in the world (Figure 4). Triton has not deviated from what it believes to be a well-considered phased exploration program comprising:
Phase 1: Initial Exploration Area
- validate VTEM response
- test width and depth extents
- completed successfully
- >10% GrC average grades over significant mineralisation lengths and thicknesses confirmed
- 0.23%V2O5 average grades over significant lengths and thicknesses confirmed
Phase 2: Establish Target Footprint
- Validate mineralisation within footprint
- Completed successfully
- Graphitic and vanadium mineralisation confirmed over 4.8km strike length
Phase 3: Defined Resource Area
- Infill and step out drilling to achieve JORC 2012 Inferred Resource
- Representative mineralogical and metallurgical sampling at various depths and along strike
The key objectives for Phase 1 and 2 have exceeded the Company's initial expectations, thus providing the justification to proceed to Phase 3.
The Company has now entered into the resource definition phase (Phase 3) on the Balama North project and under the current drilling program is rapidly advancing the Nicanda Hill prospect towards a JORC 2012 Inferred Resource, which is due to be completed by year end.
Triton is undertaking the preliminary work for transitioning into the feasibility and development stages. The Company confirms that additional metallurgical and mineralogical studies are now being undertaken in support of the feasiblity studies.
