Archean Star Resources Inc. Announces Mr. B. Sostak as New Director

VANCOUVER, May 7, 2013 - Archean Star Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ASP) (the "Company" or "Archean") is pleased to announce that, subject to the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange, Mr. Bernie Sostak, B.Sc. P.Geol, Diploma Business, MAusIMM, has consented to act as a non-executive director to the Company.

With over 20 years experience in the mining industry, including five years with Barrick Gold Corporation ("Barrick") Mr Sostak brings to the Board his extensive knowledge of mining, which includes mine geology, resource estimations, exploration, mine planning and general operations management.

He commenced his career in exploration with WMC before moving into commissioning and the mine geology management for Broken Hill Metals, Coolgardie Gold, Plutonic Resources, Homestake Mining and Barrick Gold in both Underground and Open Pit Operations. He is currently Manager of Geology for Northern Star Resources Ltd, ("Northern") an Australian Stock Exchange ("ASX") listed company which is currently mining at its Paulsen's Gold Project in Western Australia. Prior to joining Northern, he was based in Toronto for 5 years with Barrick Gold Corporation ("Barrick") as Director of Resource and Reserve Strategy, managing their reserve replacement programs on 4 continents. Mr. Sostak has a Bachelor of Science from Monash University and a Diploma in Business Management.

The Company now has two highly experienced geologists on its Board, the other being Dr. Clay Conway, P.Geol, who is the Company's Manager of Exploration. As the Company progresses both the newly acquired Monitor high grade copper gold project in the Couer D'Alene Mining District in Idaho, the Gnaweeda Gold Project in Western Australia, and advances towards its proposed Australian Listing the Company will be looking to bring further mining expertise to the Board.


Archean Star Resources Inc., is a junior exploration company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange that is creating shareholder value by earning, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Archean Star Resources Australia Pty Ltd, 100% of Teck Australia Pty Ltd.'s ("Teck") interest, subject to a 75% back in right in such interest to Teck, in Chalice Gold Mines Limited's Gnaweeda Gold Project in Western Australia. The Company is also earning an 80% interest in AMCOR's Monitor Copper, Gold and Silver project in the Coeur D'Alene Mining District in Idaho.
